Square Henri Rousselle

park garden

Square Henri Rousselle features a bronze bust of a man perched on a stone pedestal, overlooking a small, fenced garden tucked between the steep, narrow streets of the Butte-aux-Cailles. Henri Rousselle served as a local politician in the early twentieth century, dedicating his career to improving public hygiene and sanitation in this working-class neighborhood. The city installed this memorial after his death in nineteen twenty-five to mark his efforts to bring clean running water and better housing to the people who lived here.
