Musée Yves Saint Laurent

The Musée Yves Saint Laurent occupies a historic Second Empire mansion that served as the couturier’s headquarters for nearly three decades. Between 1974 and 2002, this building at 5 avenue Marceau functioned as the heart of his haute couture empire, where roughly two hundred tailors and seamstresses worked to bring his designs to life. Unlike many fashion archives that were assembled after the fact, Saint Laurent began meticulously cataloging his work from his very first collection in 1962. This foresight preserved a vast heritage of over five thousand garments and fifteen thousand accessories, which now form the basis of the rotating exhibitions held within these same storied walls.
