Hôtel de Maisons

The Hotel de Maisons features a limestone facade carved with remarkably deep, rhythmic reliefs that distinguish it from the flatter townhouses on the street. Built in the seventeen twenties for the president of the Parliament of Paris, the mansion served as a private residence for the elite of the Faubourg Saint Germain. The architect Jean Courtonne designed the staircase to be a theater for the owner, who once famously ordered the entire interior layout changed because the view of the garden displeased him.
