Hôtel de Lamoignon

The Hôtel de Lamoignon displays a facade of giant Corinthian pilasters that run the full height of the building. Completed in sixteen twenty-four for Diane de France, the illegitimate daughter of King Henry the Fourth, the house served as a grand residence for the nobility. In the late seventeenth century, Guillaume de Lamoignon moved in and turned the salons into a literary hub. Jean Racine and Nicolas Boileau gathered here to debate poetry, while the library walls filled with thousands of rare volumes.
