The Square des Moines de Tibhirine features a low stone wall enclosing a quiet garden filled with cherry trees and roses. It honors seven French Trappist monks kidnapped and killed in Algeria in nineteen ninety-six. Before the city converted this space into a memorial in two thousand eight, it served as a vacant lot used by neighbors for parking cars. The garden offers a place for reflection, keeping the memory of the monks and their work in Tibhirine present in the center of Paris.
