The Fontaine Palatine stands on rue Garancière as a quiet relic of eighteenth-century civic charity. Built in seventeen fifteen, it was commissioned by Anne of Bavaria, a princess who resided at the nearby Hotel du Petit Luxembourg. She funded this structure at her own expense to provide the local neighborhood with a reliable source of water.
