Musée Dupuytren

museum

The Musée Dupuytren features shelves lined with jars containing preserved anatomical specimens, skeletons, and wax models depicting various pathologies. Established in eighteen thirty-five using Guillaume Dupuytren’s massive private collection, the museum functioned as a teaching resource for medical students at the University of Paris. The collection documents the history of medical science through the physical evidence of human disease. Many of these specimens were once held in the refectory of the old Cordeliers convent, where physicians gathered to study the effects of illness.
