Maxim's Art Nouveau "Collection 1900"

The glass facade of Maxim's Collection Nineteen Hundred reveals a dense, swirling interior of mahogany and floral ornamentation, a distinct departure from the stone-heavy Haussmann style of the surrounding Madeleine district. Pierre Cardin opened this museum to display his obsessive hoard of furniture, glass, and ironwork from the turn of the century. He spent decades buying out estates to rescue these delicate pieces from the scrap heap, eventually filling these rooms with the total aesthetic of the Belle Époque.
