American Cathedral in Paris

The American Cathedral in Paris, officially known as the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity, stands as a piece of architectural history rooted in nineteenth-century ambition. Its design is the work of George Edmund Street, a prominent English architect who insisted on a philosophy he called ethical architecture. This principle required that every structural element, such as a column or a vault, be authentic and serve a clear, necessary purpose rather than acting as a mere decorative facade. Even though Street passed away before the building was fully realized, his vision for this Gothic Revival masterpiece guided the project to completion in 1886.
