The Square de l'Amérique-Latine was created in nineteen thirty-one near the edge of the city, occupying space that once hosted the last defensive wall of Paris. This modest garden serves as a quiet urban retreat that features an unusual collection of outdoor statuary. Arranged in a half-circle, you will find eight bronze busts representing prominent Latin American literary and historical figures, including the Nicaraguan poet Ruben Dario and the Cuban writer Jose Marti. Standing at the center of this group is a larger statue of the Venezuelan patriot Francisco Miranda, who holds the unique distinction of having served as a general in the French Revolutionary Army.
