Serre Tropicale du Parc Zoologique de Paris

The tropical greenhouse stands as a four thousand square meter monument to biological immersion. Inside, it maintains a strictly controlled equatorial climate, housing over three thousand eight hundred plants along with diverse animal species from Guyana and Madagascar. The structure reaches sixteen meters at its highest point, designed to allow trees to grow to their natural maturity under a vast glass canopy. Visitors move through this space along paths that wind from the canopy level down to a waterfall, where manatees swim in a large freshwater basin. The facility functions as a deliberate recreation of specific, threatened wilderness regions, serving as a primary site for the observation of animal behavior within their complex, multi-layered environments.
