Porte de Charenton station first opened its doors on May fifth, nineteen thirty-one. It was built as a crucial transport link for the Paris Colonial Exposition, an immense world fair held that year in the nearby Bois de Vincennes. The station served as the southeastern terminus for Metro Line eight, connecting the heart of Paris to this massive international event.
