Musée Méliès

The Musée Méliès features a large, glowing sign shaped like a giant moon face with a rocket in its eye. This museum occupies a wing of the Cinémathèque Française and serves as a shrine to Georges Méliès, the stage magician who pioneered special effects. Méliès once filmed a man stepping onto the moon, long before NASA existed. He kept his original puppets and painted stage sets in a dark, cramped attic for decades until they were rediscovered by film historians in the nineteen twenties.
