The Great Mills of Paris

The Grands Moulins de Paris features a massive, fortress-like brick facade overlooking the Seine. Built in nineteen twenty-one, these industrial giants processed enough wheat to bake one hundred thousand loaves of bread every day. During the nineteen thirties, workers operated heavy machinery around the clock, turning the building into a vital food supply hub for the city. Today, the complex houses the Paris Diderot University, where classrooms occupy the same vast spaces that once held thousands of tons of flour.
