City of Fashion and Design

cultural

The Cité de la Mode et du Design twists along the Seine like a bright green, porous caterpillar. Jakob and MacFarlane architects wrapped the former nineteen-hundreds industrial warehouse in a metallic, neon-green skin that mimics the flow of the river. It replaced the Austerlitz dock where cargo boats once unloaded grains and oils. The structure houses fashion schools and exhibition spaces, but the most striking feature remains the roof terrace, which offers an unobstructed, silent view over the water moving toward the city center.
