Moulin de la Tour

The Moulin de la Tour is a windmill with a body of weathered, dark stone that stands isolated from the modern apartment blocks of Ivry-sur-Seine. Built in the seventeenth century, it remains the only windmill left in the entire department of Val-de-Marne. During the French Revolution, the miller, Jean-Louis, became a target of suspicion because he supposedly used the mill’s sails to signal royalist troops, moving them into specific positions to relay secret messages across the valley floor.
