Quartier Asiatique

The Quartier Asiatique, centered around the intersection of Avenue d’Ivry and Avenue de Choisy, defines itself by the high-rise concrete apartment towers built during the nineteen seventies. While Paris is famous for stone facades, this district features pedestrian walkways elevated above the street level, connecting clusters of housing blocks. Thousands of refugees from Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia settled here following the fall of Saigon. They transformed these towers into a hub for trade and community when no one else wanted the space.
