The building stands apart with its facade covered in a constantly changing skin of colorful graffiti and aerosol art. Once a refrigerated warehouse for the nearby Halles markets, the structure kept tons of meat and dairy frozen during the nineteen twenties. When the markets moved to the suburbs, the cooling units shut down and the massive concrete halls sat empty. Artists began moving into the hollowed-out chambers during the eighties, turning the cold industrial shells into studios, sound stages, and living spaces.
