Pont amont

landmark

The Pont Amont carries the heavy flow of the Paris ring road across the Seine. It sits at the very edge of the city, built in nineteen sixty-nine to complete the loop of the Boulevard Périphérique. This bridge consists of two parallel steel spans, each supporting four lanes of traffic. It serves as the point where the river exits Paris, separating the twelfth arrondissement from the commune of Charenton-le-Pont. Engineers designed it to handle the immense weight of constant, high-speed commuter traffic.
