The building is a twenty-five-story apartment tower defined by a facade covered in a frantic, shifting collage of murals. In twenty-thirteen, its owner, a social housing firm, allowed over a hundred international street artists to paint every inch of the structure before its scheduled demolition. For several months, the decaying concrete block became an open-air gallery. People waited in line for hours to walk through the hallways, which were transformed into immersive, site-specific installations, until the bulldozers finally arrived that spring.
