Gare de Lyon

The Gare de Lyon features a massive, four-faced clock tower that dominates the corner of the station building. Built for the nineteen hundred World’s Fair, the clock stands nearly two hundred feet tall and displays Roman numerals that tower over the street. Inside, travelers once rushed to catch the Blue Train, an express service that carried passengers to the French Riviera. The station remains a junction for the country’s high-speed rail lines, still echoing with the sounds of departures for the south.
