Jardin James-Joyce

The Jardin James Joyce features a central gravel path framed by rows of tightly pruned lime trees. This green space occupies a former railway corridor, part of the Petite Ceinture that once circled Paris. Before its conversion into a public park in the mid nineteen nineties, heavy trains hauled freight through this concrete trench. During the design process, planners opted to keep the original metal tracks embedded in the garden floor, where they remain today beneath the shadow of the surrounding apartment blocks.
