You are standing near the site of the former Galerie Barbazanges, which operated at 109 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore starting in 1911. Henri Barbazanges established this space by renting ground-floor property from the famous fashion designer Paul Poiret, whose own mansion sat right next door. The gallery featured a unique architectural layout that included a large, windowless exhibition hall covered by a massive glass roof, providing an ideal environment for showcasing avant-garde art. A door was even cut between the gallery and Poiret's private residence to allow for direct access between the two worlds of high fashion and experimental painting.
