Hôtel de Ratabon

The Hôtel de Ratabon features a tall, curved wooden carriage door set deep into a rusticated stone facade. Built in the sixteen forties for Anne de Ratabon, the wife of the superintendent of the royal buildings, the townhouse served as a private residence near the Palais-Royal. During the French Revolution, the building housed the offices of the lottery, where staff managed the city's gambling schemes. Today, its quiet courtyard hides behind the street wall, maintaining the original scale of seventeenth-century aristocratic living.
