The building you are approaching, known as the Louvre Saint-Honoré, occupies an entire city block between the Rue de Rivoli and the Rue Saint-Honoré. While its name echoes the world-famous museum across the street, this site has lived several distinct lives since it was first erected in the eighteen fifties. It began as a massive, opulent hotel called the Grand Hôtel du Louvre, which was built to accommodate visitors to the eighteen fifty-five World Fair.
