Allée Jacques Derrida

The Allée Jacques Derrida is a pedestrian promenade located along the Boulevard Raspail in the sixth arrondissement. The City of Paris officially named this pathway in 2019 to honor the philosopher Jacques Derrida, who lived and worked in the city for much of his life. Derrida is internationally recognized for developing the philosophy of deconstruction, a method of critical analysis that challenged long-standing assumptions in literature, linguistics, and architecture. By positioning this walkway in the heart of the Quartier Notre-Dame-des-Champs, the city pays tribute to his long tenure teaching at the nearby École des hautes études en sciences sociales.
