Hôtel Lambert

The Hôtel Lambert stands as a jewel of seventeenth century baroque architecture on the eastern tip of the Île Saint-Louis. Jean-Baptiste Lambert commissioned the architect Louis Le Vau to design this residence in the early sixteen forties, long before Le Vau became famous for his monumental work at the Palace of Versailles. The mansion is an exceptional example of French classical design, featuring interiors decorated by the master painter Charles Le Brun. Its unique layout takes advantage of its position by the Seine, with a design that creates a seamless flow between the interior rooms and the river views.
