Hôtel d'Aumont

The Hôtel d'Aumont stands as a masterpiece of seventeenth-century French architecture. You are looking at a grand private mansion that was built between sixteen forty-four and sixteen forty-eight, originally designed by the celebrated architect Louis Le Vau for a royal advisor named Michel-Antoine Scarron. Shortly after its completion, the building was purchased by Antoine d'Aumont, a Marshal of France who later became the first Duke of Aumont. Under his ownership, the residence was further enlarged by the legendary architect François Mansart, cementing its status as one of the most prestigious homes in the Marais district.
