Arcades Crypts

The Arcades Crypts beneath the Inner City Parish Church in Budapest hold the remains of the city's old nobility and clergy. Built directly into the medieval foundations of the church, these vaulted corridors were rediscovered during recent renovations. They served as burial chambers for centuries, sealing away ornate coffins and crumbling stone markers in the damp earth. A single archway leads into the narrow, dimly lit stone passages where the heavy air preserves the silence of the families who governed Buda long ago.
