Labor Movement Pantheon

The Labor Movement Pantheon in Budapest consists of a series of granite and limestone memorials tucked into a quiet, heavily wooded section of Kerepesi Cemetery. It was built in nineteen fifty-nine to honor figures from the Hungarian socialist and labor movements. Architect Miklos Vago designed the central wall to hold the urns of prominent party leaders. Janos Kadar, the man who led Hungary for over thirty years after the nineteen fifty-six revolution, rests here under a simple stone slab, separate from the monumental wall.
