C.S.I Rice Memorial Church

The C.S.I. Rice Memorial Church features a tall, slender steeple that rises above the rooftops of Anchepet. Benjamin Rice, a missionary from the London Missionary Society, established this congregation in the mid-nineteenth century to serve the local Kanarese-speaking population. While many colonial-era churches focused on expatriates, Rice spent decades translating the Bible and teaching here. The current stone structure replaced an earlier, more modest building, providing a permanent home for the community that Rice built from the ground up.
