STATE CENTRAL LIBRARY

The State Central Library occupies a red, Gothic-style building known as the Seshadri Memorial Hall. Its most striking feature is the bright, vermillion exterior that stands out against the greenery of Cubbon Park. Built in nineteen fifteen, the library commemorates Sir K. Seshadri Iyer, a former Dewan of the princely state of Mysore who worked to modernize Bengaluru. The library serves as a primary repository for state records, and its collection includes a copy of every book published in Karnataka.
