Sir Mark Cubbon Statue

The bronze statue of Sir Mark Cubbon stands rigid in his official uniform, mounted on a pedestal in the public park that bears his name. He served as the longest-running British commissioner of the Mysore territory during the nineteenth century. While many officials left quickly, Cubbon stayed for twenty-seven years, learning the local languages and managing the administration from his headquarters here. The statue marks the spot where his influence helped shape the administrative and civic layout of the city center.
