Queen Victoria Statue

The marble figure of Queen Victoria stands beneath a tall stone canopy in the middle of Queen's Park. Her statue is carved from white Carrara marble, imported from Italy and sculpted by the artist Thomas Brock. The memorial was unveiled in nineteen oh six by the Prince of Wales, later King George the Fifth, during his tour of India. It remained a centerpiece of the colonial administration area for decades, surviving the political transitions that followed independence in nineteen forty-seven.
