High Court of Karnataka

The High Court of Karnataka stands out with its bright red paint and two-story Ionic and Corinthian columns. Originally known as Attara Kacheri, or the eighteen offices, the building housed the administrative departments of the Princely State of Mysore after the capital moved here in eighteen sixty-eight. Sir John Mead oversaw its construction, which combined European neoclassicism with indigenous architectural elements. Local stone masons carved the red granite facade, creating a distinct visual marker that has anchored this part of the city ever since.
