Bugle Rock Park

park garden

A massive, egg-shaped granite boulder sits exposed at the center of this park, weathered by millions of years into a smooth, grey dome. Geologists identify this rock as part of the Peninsular Gneiss, estimated to be three billion years old. Legend says Kempe Gowda, the founder of Bengaluru, used a watchtower placed on this very formation to sound a bugle when the city’s boundaries were reached. People still climb the worn natural steps to sit atop the ancient stone surface.
