Ramakrishna Math, Bengaluru

religious

The Ramakrishna Math in Bengaluru centers on a massive, pillared prayer hall built from pinkish-red sandstone. Swami Vivekananda visited this city in eighteen ninety-two, wandering the streets as a monk before his rise to international fame. Years later, his followers established this center to carry on his work. The hall features an open design that lets in the breeze, and the stone carvings mirror the traditional architecture found in the Belur Math headquarters back in West Bengal.
