Young Artist Center Penestanan

other

The Young Artist Center in Penestanan sits inside a cluster of low buildings draped in lush garden foliage. This spot traces its roots to nineteen sixty, when the Dutch painter Arie Smit invited local boys to paint with him. He provided the materials and encouraged them to depict their daily lives in vibrant, flat colors. This gathering grew into the Young Artist style, a movement that shifted Balinese art away from traditional religious scenes toward the exuberant, jungle-filled landscapes of the village itself.
