The Pura Taman Kemuda Saraswati features a dense forest of lotus flowers filling the rectangular reflecting pools that front the main temple gate. Built in the early nineteen fifties, the site honors the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, and art. When the royal family of Ubud commissioned the architect I Gusti Nyoman Lempad, he designed the water gardens to frame the temple entrance. Today, the carved stone figures of mythological creatures remain tucked among the broad, floating leaves of the lotus plants.
