Jalan Kajeng

Jalan Kajeng is a narrow concrete path winding north from the center of Ubud, identifiable by the hundreds of names carved into the stone tiles underfoot. These names belong to donors who funded the path's renovation in the early two thousands, transforming a muddy shortcut into a solid walkway. Locals rely on this route to reach the rice fields, and the carved slabs remain a persistent, literal foundation for the community, recording the individual residents who chose to pay for the permanent paving.
