Djinn Blocks

The Djinn Blocks are three massive, solitary stone towers standing near the main entrance to Petra. Unlike the city’s famous carved facades, these blocks show no elaborate decorations, only smooth, imposing faces. They served as funerary monuments for the Nabataeans, though their exact age remains a puzzle for archaeologists. One night in the nineteen seventies, a local resident claimed he found a cache of gold coins inside a crevice here, sparking a flurry of amateur excavations that left scars on the sandstone.
