Tomba di Sestio Fiorentino

The facade of the Tomb of Sextius Florentinus is carved directly into the red sandstone cliff face, distinguishable by its classic Roman architectural style standing out against the wild, natural rock. Sextius Florentinus served as a governor of the Roman province of Arabia in the early second century. An inscription carved above the entrance identifies him by name and career, noting that the tomb was built for him by his son. He lies buried here far from his home in Pergamum.
