Street of Facades

The Street of Facades features a row of monumental Nabatean tombs carved directly into the sandstone cliffside. These openings rise in tiers, their classical columns and geometric friezes weathered into soft, honey-colored ripples by centuries of wind and sand. When the sun hits them at midday, the red rock glows with a particular intensity. Back in the first century, these graves signaled the status of the wealthy families buried within, their proximity to the city center defining the reach of the Nabatean elite.
