Triclinium

The Triclinium in Petra features a facade carved directly into the rose-red sandstone cliff, marked by two prominent pillars flanking a central doorway. This chamber served as a ceremonial dining hall where the Nabataeans gathered for funeral feasts to honor their dead. In the first century, these rooms hosted elaborate meals intended to commune with ancestors. The stone benches inside still line the walls, waiting for guests who departed two thousand years ago. Someone left their wine cup here, and it never returned home.
