The Centro Cultural Bella Epoca occupies a curved, dark glass building defined by a sweeping, light-filled rotunda that anchors the corner of Tamaulipas and Avenida Tamaulipas. This structure began its life in nineteen forty-two as the Cine Lido, a neighborhood movie theater designed by Charles Lee. After decades of decline, the architect Teodoro Gonzalez de Leon oversaw a complete transformation, stripping the cinema to its bones and turning the space into a massive bookstore and cultural center for the Fondo de Cultura Economica.
