Jose Antonio Agirre Zubia

landmark

The Jose Antonio Agirre Zubia bridge features a striking series of white steel arches that lean outward, creating a distinct ribbed profile above the Urumea River. Completed in two thousand ten, this structure connects the Amara Berri district to the rest of the city. Engineers designed the bridge to handle heavy tram traffic, a requirement that dictated the wide, reinforced concrete deck. Jose Antonio Agirre, the first president of the Basque government, gave his name to this crossing when it opened.
