Mundaiz Zubia

The Mundaiz Bridge features a distinctively slender, flattened concrete profile that spans the Urumea River with a single, sweeping gesture. Completed in nineteen ninety-nine, it replaced a temporary wooden structure built after the original bridge was demolished in the nineteen thirties. During the construction, workers uncovered the remains of a fourteenth-century wharf and various ceramic fragments, revealing that this quiet spot served as a bustling river port for timber and iron merchants long before the modern city grid appeared.
