The Zurriola Bridge spans the mouth of the Urumea River with three wide, reinforced concrete arches topped by four distinct, bronze obelisk lampposts. Originally built in nineteen fifteen to connect the city center with the Gros neighborhood, the bridge served as a grand entry point for the royal family when they traveled to the nearby Kursaal resort. During the Spanish Civil War, shellfire heavily damaged the structure, forcing a complete reconstruction that finished in nineteen forty-one, restoring the bridge to its original Art Deco design.
