Plaza de la Trinidad

Plaza de la Trinidad features a stark, high concrete wall on one side that divides the square from the surrounding hillside. Built in nineteen sixty-three, this space occupies a site that once held a convent and later a brewery. Architect Luis Peña Ganchegui designed the square to function as a permanent frontón, or handball court, for the local community. The granite floor and the prominent wall create a theater where townspeople still gather to watch high-stakes matches played with a rubber ball.
