Koruko Andre Mariaren basilika

religious

The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Chorus anchors the end of the street with a dense, stone facade carved like an altarpiece, tucked between the old town houses. Its most striking feature is the sculpted head of Saint Sebastian placed right above the main entrance, watching the narrow thoroughfare. Completed in seventeen seventy-four, this baroque structure replaced an earlier Romanesque church that stood on the same spot. Sailors and fishermen once knelt here to ask for protection before heading into the Bay of Biscay.
